Indian River County was created in 1925. It was named for the Indian River Lagoon, which runs through the eastern portion of the county.

All of Riverside Theatre's events are produced in-house using The Acting Company's staff. Under the direction of Artistic Director Allen D. Cornell, sets, props, lights and costumes are designed and built on-site. Actors, designers and directors from New York and other areas of the country are brought in for two and a half weeks of rehearsals and up to four weeks of performances.

Orchid is a town on the Barrier island in Indian River County. It is ranked sixth in Florida locations by per capita income. Most of the town is actually a gated community called Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club. East of SR A1A, there is a beach front condominium complex. The rest of Orchid is uninhabited islands.

Fellsmere is a city with a vision for its future and a respect for its past. Founded in 1911, Fellsmere is located only 4 miles west of I-95 on Hwy 512, in Indian River County.

This “new and improved” website will also provide up-to-the-minute information on hurricanes including the latest warnings, evacuation planning, and damage reporting once the storm has moved off the Coast. The website will be interactive so that Town residents can register for many of the Department’s programs such as File of Life, Vacation House Watch, and apply for volunteer positions.

The Indian River County Sheriff´s Office (IRCSO) is located in sunny Vero Beach, Florida. We are a public service facility providing a range of services for a county of over 115,000 citizens. The IRCSO employs more than 450 employees whom provide a full array of services to the community.

The City of Sebastian, Florida is located in Indian River County approximately midway through the east coast of the Florida Peninsula between Melbourne and Vero Beach in an area known as the Treasure Coast. It is recognized as the home of Pelican Island, the first designated wildlife refuge in the United States, a Millennium City, and a Tree City USA.

Approximately 3,650 year-round residents enjoy our semi-tropical climate, with that figure nearly doubling during the winter months.

Vero Beach is a full-service City. All traditional city services such as police, public works, and recreation are provided. In addition, the City of Vero Beach operates an electric generation plant, electrical distribution system, water and sewer plants, solid waste collection department, airport and marina.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art, the largest cultural arts facility of its kind on Florida’s Treasure Coast, is a precious cultural gem that is admired and appreciated by residents and tourists alike. Situated on 7 acres of Indian River County’s 26 acre Riverside Park on the east bank of the Indian River lagoon, this accredited art museum and educational institution provides cultural leadership and enrichment for the public through a wide variety of educational, studio art and humanities programs; a diversity of quality exhibitions; and the collection, preservation and presentation of important American and international works of art.

Since senior well-being is an integral part of family success and happiness, the Senior Resource Association provides licensed Adult Day Care Center in a homelike atmosphere on its campus in Vero Beach. Professional, caring staff include Registered and Licensed Practical Nurses as well as Certified Nurse Assistants who give families the freedom and flexibility to handle their daily responsibilities while our staff care for their loved ones in a socially stimulating and safe environment.
