Vero Beach is full of historic haunts…quite literally. After dark, this sleepy seaside town comes to life with the stories of those who lived and died here, but never moved on. The walking tours are guided by Vero Beach native Tom Adams and his partner Rebecca Salinas. They have carefully researched each location on the route. These storyteller guides retell the tales that have long been forgotten, almost even by the area's oldest residents. However, the tours are about more than just lingering spooks and spirits. Participants will also learn the history of some of Vero’s highlight historic buildings, the chronicles of local industry, and lively descriptions of some of the major events that shaped the area.
The 80 minute walking tour begins and ends in front of the landmark Driftwood Resort at 3150 Ocean Drive. The leisurely stroll meanders through the barrier island streets and along the shore. Designed for those of all ages and agility, tours start at 7:30pm on Fridays & Saturdays. Guests are encouraged to park in public spaces and arrive 15 minutes prior to the tour stepping off. Tickets are $12 per person or $5 for children 5-12 yrs old. Under 5 are free. To reserve a spot or book your corporate or school group on one of these spine-tingling and spirit-raising tours, call 772-559-5966.
