BEACHLAND ELEMENTARY SHARKS INVITE YOU TO
"DISCOVER BEACHLAND'S TREASURES"
Does peanut butter really grow on trees? Over 500 Beachland kids say "Yes!"
Think you know everything about the barrier island's only public school? Think again. The statistics are no secret. The school boasts over a decade of "A+" status. It is the only district school with this distinction and is one of only 26 schools in the state to have earned this level of success. However, Beachland's 5th annual Spring Social challenges parents, teachers, staff and community members to look a little further. The school's history is rich, diverse, and full of surprises:
- Over 13,000 students have been educated over 53 years.
- There are hundreds of both exotic and native plant species on campus, including the Lipstick Tree, Peanut Butter Fruit and the native African Ackee plant.
- In addition to the state education requirements, students can create live television broadcasts, throw pots and become skilled horticulturists.
On Saturday, April 17th, parents and community members will gather to learn more about the school and raise funds to launch the school into the future.
"Discover Beachland" co-chair Chris Yates says, "Our students benefit every day from the dedication of their talented teachers. The PTA strives to enrich their educational experience by offering cultural arts programs, improving technology and increasing their knowledge of the unique ecosystem here in Vero Beach." Event co-chair Ashley Simmens adds "to have the opportunity to deepen the educational experience of our children at a young age pays immediate dividends, now and in the future. The more our Beachland Sharks know about the world in which they live, the more our community benefits. The funds raised from this very special night will allow us to partner with Beachland's talented teachers and staff to enhance every day spent in this school."
Principal Carol Wilson agrees. "The partnership between the PTA and the school plays a crucial role in the overall success of the Beachland Elementary experience. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to promote the many features that make this school so special. The funds will improve the overall look of the campus while expanding the educational journey of every student."
The "Discover Beachland's Treasures" event will be held at the Vero Beach Country Club on Saturday, April 17th. Tickets are $30 per person. A $200 VIP Ticket Package, is also available. This package highlights free event tickets and a pre-event cocktail party in a private home. Cocktails and dinner will be served while guests peruse auction items that include exotic getaways, a party hosted by Chef Joe Faria of the Quail Valley Club and an exquisite ring donated by Le Classique. For more information and tickets Ashley Simmens at ammuf@aol.com.
