For morning blood sugar tests, you will need to fast from midnight on. 

The Visiting Nurse Association is a community-based non-profit organization that offers medical, social and support services in homes throughout Indian River, South/Central Brevard and North St. Lucie Counties.

The VNA is licensed by the State of Florida and accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. We can even see patients the same day as the referral.

In addition to prescribed treatment, the VNA does so much more. We assess all the needs in the home and make recommendations to help our patients maintain a safe living environment including medication management, dietary needs, mobility, and much more. We are a patient advocate and encourage independence.

VNA’s team of experts work together to provide a number of services to patients in their homes during illness or recovery, including skilled nursing, rehabilitation, medical social workers and personal care. We also provide elder care services, such as companions and care management.

VNA Hospice of Indian River County is dedicated to ensuring that living well at the end of life is the expectation and realization of every patient. The VNA Hospice team provides a multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients who, realizing their illnesses no longer respond to aggressive treatment, have chosen palliative goals of care rather than curative ones. With expertise, dedication and compassion, the team addresses the patient’s medical treatment, as well as the mental, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patient, family and caregiver.

An integral part of VNA Hospice’s palliative care team is the volunteers, who serve patients, families and staff in a multitude of capacities. More than 300 compassionate and dedicated men and women greatly contribute to the overall success of hospice and palliative care programs.

Volunteers assist patients, families and caregivers in homes throughout Vero Beach, Gifford, Sebastian, Wabasso and Fellsmere, as well as in area hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and at the VNA Hospice House.

The VNA's community and corporate wellness programs encompass the community education and outreach aspect of our mission, promoting health throughout the counties we serve. Programs include:
