1770 12th St.
Vero Beach, FL 32960

Our Mission: To support staff, students, and families to improve positive behavior with a focus on increasing academic achievement.

Vero Beach Elementary is participating in a District Initiative called Positive Behavior Support (PBS). All schools will be developing and implementing PBS programs in collaboration with The University of South Florida.

Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is the application of behavior analysis to achieve socially important behavior change. PBS is a collaborative, assessment-based process to develop effective, individualized support plans for individuals with challenging behavior that focus on proactive and educational approaches. PBS involves the assessment and reengineering of environments in which people live, work, educate, and recreate such that they will experience reductions in their problem behaviors and increases in social, personal, and professional quality in their lives.

The aim is simple - to build effective environments in which postive behavior is more effective than problem behavior in environments in which teaching and learning occur. Attention is focused on creating and sustaining school environments that improve lifestyle results by making problem behavior less effective, efficient, and relevand, and desired behavior more functional.
