Sebastian River High School first opened its doors to a “New Tradition” in Aug 1994. The school, costing over $27 million to build, occupies 173,043 square feet that sits on an eighty acre parcel. Sebastian River High school was definitely the Taj Mahal of schools in Indian River County.

SRHS boasts a 3,750 seat sports stadium, 1,100 seat auditorium, 1,200 seat gymnasium, a state of the art TV studio, a 6 ½ acre land and aqua lab, and high tech vocational labs, in addition a well maintained football field, 3 practice fields, 2 baseball diamonds, tennis courts, basketball hard courts, and a cross country course.

The first year began with about 72 people on staff and about 822 students in 1994. Now, there are over 150 people on staff and over 2,015 students enrolled. As a result we as a school have begun to expand even more; in 2002 a new Freshman Wing was added, allowing Sebastian River High School to house over 140 class rooms, making it one of the largest schools in Indian River County.

SRHS consists an IB (International Baccalaureate)program, AP(advanced placement) program, MYP(Middle Years) program, and smaller learning communities for all of our teams.

Vocational areas are medical, culinary, automotive, marine, marketing, environmental, business, business law, digital design, and welding. We also have a Performance Based Diploma program, which is computer assistance.

SRHS definitely lives up to the slogan “Encouraging innovation and rewarding excellence.”
