Chartered in 1958 by Pilot International, the PILOT CLUB OF VERO BEACH, Inc. has supported and encouraged local youths with annual scholarships and performance based awards. Shriners mission is to provide support for 22 Shriner´s Hospitals for children, consisting of 18 orthopedic hospitals, 3 burn hospitals and one hospital that provides orthopedic, burn and spinal injury care. Dogs For Life is a non-profit that improves the quality of life for people and dogs through training dogs for people with hearing and physically disabilities. Pet Therapy dogs provide comfort at local facilities. The dog park at 12th Street and 16th Avenue allows dogs and people to exercise and socialize. Group Dog Training Classes are open to the public.

The Homeless Family Center "helps families help themselves" by providing temporary emergency shelter to homeless singles and families. The new Stark Family building provides transitional housing to those families that need additional time to fix problems that caused their homelessness. We provide resources like employment counseling, case management, budget counseling to help end homelessness. Our children´s programs teach self esteem and provide counseling.

The Indian River Community College Small Business Development Center is the Treasure Coast branch of a nationwide non-profit network of college and university based centers sponsored by the SBA. They link the resources of the federal, state and local governments and the private sector to provide entrepreneurs with the one-on-one counseling, management training and information they need to prosper and grow in a complex and competitive economy.

The Indian River Astronomical Society (IRAS) was organized in June of 2002. The institutional sponsor of the Society is the Indian River Charter High School. In addition, the Society is a member of the Astronomical League, an international association of astronomical organizations, and enjoys those benefits.

The main goal of the Indian River Riding Club is to promote and encourage care, riding, and enjoyment of the horse plus friendship and fun. The Craft Club of Sebastian is located at the Riverview Park, US 1 in Sebastian. It consists of many vendors with all handcrafted items who come from Indian River County, Brevard County and St. Lucie County. They have eight Craft Shows per year beginning in October and ending in May. The Youth Guidance Mentoring and Activities Program provides services for about 700 children living in Indian River County in grades K-12 from single parent or non-traditional homes (foster homes, children being raised by grandparents etc.). These children benefit from having a volunteer friend to provide them with friendship and guidance. Children are referred to us from schools, after school programs, counselors, other local agencies, and interested citizens.

The John W. Nick Foundation is dedicated to creating Awareness and Understanding by educating the public that men are at risk for developing breast cancer. Our goal is to provide current breast cancer information to the public and the medical community through the internet, seminars, direct mailings, media, and to offer support groups for male breast cancer survivors, patients, and their families.

The Indian River Foundation is here to help the elderly of Indian River County. Devoted to the aid of Indian River County´s elderly who, because of illness, finacial loss, catastrophe or an unanticipated occurrence in their later years, may be in need of financial assistance.

Children's Home Society provides Treasure Coast families with a wide spectrum of social services including foster care, adoption, prevention services, emergency shelter, a group home, mental health services, a child protection team and an independent living program.

Domestic Violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors used to establish power and control over an intimate partner often leading to the threat or use of violence. Abuse is any controlling behavior, hurtful acts, word, or gesture that injures another’s body or emotions. Domestic violence is not a disagreement, a marital spat, or an anger management problem.

The Exchange Club of Indian River meets every Wednesday from noon to 1:00 pm at Culinary Capers, 737 22nd Street, Vero Beach. There is no charge for new persons who express an interest in joining. The Club is a group of men and women working together to make our community a better place to live through programs of service in Americanism, Community Service, Youth Activities, and the Prevention of Child Abuse. Its 501(c)3 Foundation raises funds for programs that prevent child abuse.

Childcare Resources provides tuition assistance for quality early care and preschool, support and guidance to help maintain family stability free access to mental health professionals and a wide variety of parenting programs and family enrichment opportunities. Since its founding in 1994, more than 900 children and their families have participated in Childcare Resources programs. The organization is also the proud recipient of the Agency Excellence Award 2001 and 2005 presented by the United Way of Indian River County.

The Samaritan Center is an inter-faith transitional, temporary shelter for homeless families in Indian River County.
