WHO WE ARE: The ARC is the oldest local 501 (c) 3 non profit dedicated to meeting the needs of people with developmental disabilities in Indian River County. The ARC was founded by a group of parents, friends, volunteers and professionals.
OUR MISSION: To provide services and supports to individuals with disabilities, enabling individuals to lead self-determined lives.
OUR PROGRAMS:
Residential living Arrangements
We operate 4 homes, located throughout Vero Beach, where 4 to 6 individuals reside. We provide 24 hour supervision, and have a total of 20 people in group homes at this time. They participate in planning and preparing their meals, doing chores and planning activities together just as families do, based on their abilities and interests.
Adult Services
This community-based program provides training in the areas of work preparation, daily living skills, behavioral intervention, and inclusion activities within the community. Contract work is procured so consumers can be paid while learning vocational skills. Some consumers choose to work within the workshop; others may choose a work crew or employment within the community. Work Crews clean various professional offices throughout the community. Enclaves work on-site at various businesses throughout the Treasure Coast.
Behavior Services
Behavior Supports are provided to individuals whose challenging behaviors have impeded their ability to access the widest spectrum of community living, working, leisure and integration options. Individuals who require Behavior Supports are provided with individualized treatment plans to help them to manage their challenging behaviors and learn socially acceptable behaviors to assist the individual in accessing things that are important to them. Ongoing training is provided to those who support the individual across a variety of settings.
Supported Living
Supported Living Services provides natural supports for those consumers who live in their own homes or apartments. A supported living coach will provide services in the areas of shopping, cooking, banking, transportation, medical appointments and money management.
Supported Employment
Supported Employment offers consumers assistance with job applications, the interview process, finding a job and on the job training. A coach will provide on the job support until the trainee learns the job. Job related follow along services are available as long as needed.
Transportation
ARC owns and operates several transport vans, and is the only agency in the county that provides the developmentally disabled door-to-door transportation. ARC also provides transportation services for the Council on Aging.
Treasure Coast Community Care
Non-Residential Support Services, Personal Care, Companion, In-Home Supports, Respite Care-often in the child’s home-and special transportation.
